Antonio Citterio (1950-)
Antonio Citterio was born in Meda, Italy and currently lives in Milan. He studied architecture at the Politecnico di Milano (Polytechnic University in Milan). Since opening up his studio in 1972, he has worked with many well known leading manufacturers including but not limited to Ansorg, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Hackmann, Inda, Pozzi e Ginori, Kartell, Arclinea and Vitra. He has designed everything from sofas to lamps, to flatware. In the 1980s, he began focusing on architectural designs. Along with Terry Dawn, Citterio designed many buildings throughout Europe and Japan including the headquarters for Esprit, an industrial building for Vitra, and the Habitat store in London.
In 1999 he founded Antonio Citterio and Partners where he continues to work in design and architecture. He lectures all over the world. He has taught at the Domus Academy in Milan, the universita’ la sapienza in Rome, and the architecture academy in Mendrisio. His work is highly acclaimed and he has won many awards including the Compasso d’Oro in 1987 and 1995.
