Le Corbusier Collection Review

Charles-Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, better known as Le Corbusier was one of the most renown architects of the early twentieth century. A well known modernist, Le Corbusier designed not only buildings, but also furniture. The Le Corbusier Petit Collection is perhaps the most famous of his designs. Le Corbusier was ahead of his time as the Petit Collection is still revered as modern and minimalist. Perfect for any home or office, our Le Corbusier Chairs, Ottomans, Loveseats, and Sofas are both contemporary and classic. |
Frame
|
The frame on the Le Corbusier Petit Chairs, Ottomans, Loveseats, and Sofas are made of high grade #304 stainless steel to ensure support and withstand wear. Our frames set the standard for sturdiness without giving up any of the beauty. Our Le Corbusier stainless steel frames will always polish to a brilliant mirror finish. The steel seams are smooth and flawless. Be aware that many of our competitors’ versions of the Le Corbusier Collection are made with low grade steel that will corrode and even rust over time. The finish on these cheap Chinese imports is often dull and lackluster. |
Cushions
The two piece cushions used in the Le Corbusier Collection are made of 2 lb., high density, fire-rated foam which is layered for comfort and support. Poly fibers and down feathers are also used to maximize comfort. Whether you are opting for the Le Corbusier Petit Chair, Loveseat, or Sofa, you can rest assured that the cushions will maintain shape and support for years. Our competitors cannot make the same claim. The cheaper versions of the Le Corbusier Collection often use low density foam which quickly loses shape compromising the sleek clean lines of the design. While comparing brands, it is also important to note that our Petit Collection cushions are in perfect proportion while other reproductions fail master the precise alignment. The square lines of the design are what make it sleek and modern. |
Italian Leather
Le Corbusier pieces are covered in 100% top grain Italian Leather. The soft, supple leather is what sets our Le Corbusier Collection apart from other reproductions on the market. Many competitors cut corners by using other products on the sides and backs of the furniture. Some cheaper imports opt to use vinyl pvc, split leathers, or pig leathers. At RuksLiving, you can be sure that you are investing in a high quality piece made with beautiful 100% Italian Leather.
Migliore Leather - Top Grain, Corrected, Pigmented Leather
Top grain leather is the uppermost layer or skin of the hide. It is durable and wears better than other leather. All premium furniture manufacturers use top grain leather. For this reason, it is important that the hides have a regular pattern or grain without too many flaws or imperfections. Hides that have several scars can be treated and embossed. These hides are called Corrected Leather.
Corrected leather, also called Embossed leather is top grain leather that has been sanded, buffed, and stamped to achieve an even texture and grain. The imperfections and flaws are removed and a new artificial grain is added giving the hide a uniform grain. Corrected leathers are usually less expensive than uncorrected leathers because the original hide does not have to be as flawless.
Pigmented leathers are hides that have been treated with a pigmented topcoat. This pigmented topcoat protects the leather and gives it its even shiny color. These leathers are very durable and easy to care for and maintain.
Our Migliore Line is made of 100% imported Italian leather. Colors include Bright White, Camel, Chocolate, Ivory, Black, Red and Saddle Tan.
Premio Leather - Top Grain, Full Grain, Semi-Aniline Leather
Semi-Aniline leathers are hides that have been colored by aniline dyes. The natural characteristics and grain of the hide are visible. Unlike full aniline leather, semi-aniline leathers are treated with a clear sealant layer or topcoat leaving a slightly shiny finish.
The clear topcoat offers protection without compromising the natural grain and markings of the leather which are full visible through the finish. Many people prefer Semi-aniline leathers because it is protected without losing the natural softness and grain of the leather.
Our Premio Line is made of 100% imported Italian leather. Colors include Bordeaux, Cognac, Cappuccino, Golden Tan, Hunter Green, Black, Navy Blue, Parchment, Tangerine, and Wasabi.
Superiore Leather - Top Grain, Full Grain, Full-Aniline Leather
Full Aniline leathers are top grain hides colored by aniline dyes without any pigment or topcoat. Because there is no protective coating, full aniline dyed leathers are the most natural and soft. All of the markings and natural characteristics of the leather are visible making each hide completely unique. Only the highest quality hides can be used as they are completely untreated to hide defects.
Aniline leathers are highly coveted because they are extremely soft in texture and rich in color. Full Aniline leathers do not have any clear topcoat so there is no protective layer making them susceptible to fading and staining.
Our Superiore Line is made of 100% imported Italian leather. Colors include Chocolate, Cranberry, Black, Tofee, White and Whiskey. |
