Legare Side Chair

The Legare Side Chair is a classic modern reproduction of Harry Bertoia's Wire Side Chair which was originally created in 1952. Harry Bertoia transformed industrial wire rods into one of the most influential designs in the history of modern furniture. Harry Bertoia first met Florence Knoll at the Cranbrook Academy of Art and shortly after that began working with her and her husband Hans Knoll. The Knolls gave Bertoia creative freedom to work on whatever suited him. This freedom led to the introduction of the Bertoia Seating Collection in 1952. Bertoia experimented with open forms and metal work which inspired these chairs. The finished product includes a sturdy chrome steel frame that gives ample support while snug seating is provided by a faux leather seat pad.
