Midway Stools

The Midway Stools are reproductions of the original Emeco Stools that were designed by Philippe Starck. Philippe Starck designed the Emeco Counter and Barstools, stripped the classics of their back and arms and gave them an irresistably slender profile. Simple, elegant and commodious for bodies of all sizes, the stools contain an aluminum frame and are handcrafted to be stronger than steel using the same proprietary 77-step process as the classic Emeco Navy Collection. These stools were first designed as prototypes for the Mies van der Rohe retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in 2001, the Bar and Counter Stools are solutions that the museum thought Mies van der Rohe himself might choose today. These stools were made available to the public in 2002 and have a cool neutrality right for any environment, artfully blending contemporary crispness with the contours of '50s modernism.
