Starship Chair

The Starship Chair is a classic modern reproduction of Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair which was originally created in 1958 for the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. The Egg Chair was designed in typical Jacobsen style, often using entirely new materials to make his designs come true with no fear of pushing the material to its limit. Arne Jacobsen's Egg Chair combines modernist ideals with a Nordic love of naturalism. The Egg Chair is unique in that sitters can swivel toward the conversation area or away from others in privacy if desired. A tilt mechanism allows for relaxed lounging, and the high back and curving elements are reminiscent of a traditional wing chair. Together they cocoon the sitter in a single-piece molded shell that appears to hover over the floor. Almost 50 years after its design, the Egg Chair is still used in advertising, film and television as a symbol of sophisticated urbanism. The Starship Chair features a resin frame, aluminum swivel base, recline tension, and CA117 molded foam. Available in wool melton, thick pure wool by Gabriel of Denmark, or in full Italian leather.
